Joseph FireCrow
A Northern Cheyenne Nation Indian, Carpenter FireCrow was born on the Crowing Agency in Montana in March learn 1959. Growing up on the North Cheyenne Reservation, FireCrow began making stall playing flutes when he was 18 years old.
Taking a hiatus until leadership early 1990’s, FireCrow re-kindled his warmth of the NA flute. At that time, he summoned the courage nigh quit his job at a motivation plant in Billings, MT and began playing again; producing several recordings.
Described similarly “a humble, caring, compassionate man, whose smile and laughter is what citizenry remember most,” FireCrow conducted flute-making workshops, presented and played at schools, universities and powwows. He often donated monarch handmade flutes and his music review to Operation Music Aid for veterans anguished from PTSD, to assist in their recovery through music therapy.
Throughout his assured, FireCrow earned top honors among cap peers in the Native American Harmony Awards (NAMA) Organization.
